The BSG Motor Friedrichshain was part of a company sports community in Berlin . The carrier company was VEB Berliner Bremsenwerk , which had emerged from Knorr-Bremse AG after the Second World War .

history

From autumn 1948 company sports clubs were formed in the Soviet occupation zone and in East Berlin . BSG Voran was also created under the sponsorship of the Berlin brake factory . After the founding of sports associations in the GDR in 1950, all company sports associations were given uniform names. The company sports associations of the metalworking industry, including those of the Berlin brake factory, were given the name Motor . The BSG Motor Friedrichshain existed until its dissolution in 1990th

Soccer

In the summer of 1950, the BSG Voran became the winner in their Berlin qualification group for the FDGB Cup . In the subsequent first main round of the FDGB Cup on August 5, 1950, the BSG Aufbau Klosterfelde were eliminated on their place with 5: 3. In the second round of the cup , the BSG, now called Motor Friedrichshain in the press, was eliminated by 1: 9 against the BSG Eisenhüttenwerk Thale on their own spot. In the period that followed, Motor Friedrichshain never got beyond the lower-class Berlin local football.

rowing

Since autumn 1949, the BSG Voran had a rowing section . In particular, the rowers of the section were able to achieve significant successes for Motor Friedrichshain at the beginning of the 1950s:

  • The double foursome with a helmsman was East German champion in 1950 and 1951.
  • Marianne Köhler in 1951 and 1952, East German champion in one .
  • The double scull was GDR champions in 1951 and 1952.
  • The lightweight double foursome with a helmsman won the GDR championship in 1952.

The rowing section of Motor Friedrichshain changed in 1953 to BSG Motor Wendenschloß , which was operated by VEB Funkwerk Köpenick .

Others

The BSG Motor Friedrichshain should not be confused with the company sports associations Motor Friedrichshain-Ost and Motor Friedrichshain-Süd , which owned other sponsoring companies.
