Georgi Blagoew ( Bulgarian Георги Благоев ; born September 5, 1997 in Sofia , Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian ice hockey player who has played for the Seguin Huskies in the Greater Montreal Hockey League since 2017.

Career

Georgi Blagoew began his career as an ice hockey player at HK Slavia Sofia , with whose U16 team he won the Bulgarian championship title in 2012 and 2013. In 2013 he won the U18 title with the club. After this success he moved to HK CSKA Sofia , for which he was also on the ice in the Bulgarian U18 league. In 2014 he moved on to HC Polygon Prievidza , from which he was used in the second-highest Slovak U18 division. In 2015 he returned to Sofia, where he played for NSA Sofia and HK CSKA Sofia in the Bulgarian ice hockey league. In 2017 he took the plunge to North America, where he is active with the Seguin Huskies in the Greater Montreal Hockey League.

International

In the junior division, Blagoev played for Bulgaria in Division III of the U18 World Championships in 2013 , 2014 and 2015 and the U20 World Championships in 2014 , 2016 and 2017 .

With the Bulgarian men's national team , Blagoev first took part in the World Cup of Division II in 2015 and played there in 2016 . He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
