The BSG Stahl Eisleben was a German company sports association of the Mansfeld combine from Lutherstadt Eisleben . The football department of the BSG existed under different names until 1990, but was clearly behind local rivals Dynamo Eisleben during its existence . The most successful section of Stahl Eisleben was the men's volleyball division , which was three times GDR champion between 1952 and 1955 .

Football section

Stahl Eisleben was founded in 1945 as SG Eisleben , but performed until 1950 under the names BSG VVB Mansfeld Eisleben and activist Mansfeld . In 1951, the BSG changed its name to Stahl Eisleben and was one of the founding members of the Halle District League, which was founded in 1952 . Stahl Eisleben was active in the district league until 1958, after which, in front of Motor Aschersleben, he was promoted to the third-class 2nd GDR league . The 2nd GDR League held Eisleben until its dissolution in the 1962/63 season with mostly secured midfield places. Last season, Stahl Eisleben rose somewhat surprisingly in front of the favored teams of Dynamo Erfurt and activist Tiefenort in the GDR league .

In the GDR league Eisleben fought against Stahl Lippendorf and Chemie Zeitz against relegation for a long time, but ultimately could not hold the class. The BSG , which has since been renamed Mansfeldkombinat Eisleben , was no longer able to return to higher-class GDR football . MK Eisleben held the district league until 1972. In 1990, the sponsoring company, like other large companies such as BSG KWO Berlin, abruptly stopped paying. The soccer department merged with Dynamo Eisleben to form Mansfelder SV Eisleben in the same year .
