The Be 4/4 477–502 series from Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB) is a four-axle tram - large capacity car that was procured for the Basel tram network in 1986 and 1987 . Locally, they are also known by the nickname " gherkins " because of their shape and green paintwork . The series comprises the 26 motor vehicles with road numbers 477 to 502 and is still in use today. They were made by Schindler from Pratteln and the BBC. They are each equipped with four motors of type 4 ELO 2052 T, which have an output of 2 × 150 kW. The "Cornichons" are used together with the older standard wagons, that is, with the motor wagons 466–476 and the associated trailer wagons. In this case, three-car trains are usually formed from a motor car and two trailer cars (lines 1 and 14) or a motor car, a centrally running trailer car and a guided motor car at the end (line 3).
