The ordinance on the protection of cattle against infection with the bovine virus diarrhea virus ( BVDV ordinance or BVDVV ) regulates the compulsory examination of cattle and their vaccination against bovine virus diarrhea / mucosal disease (BVD / MD) by farmers .

purpose

Since January 1, 2011, the BVD / MD has been subject to mandatory refurbishment in the Federal Republic of Germany . The legal basis is the BVDV regulation of the federal government , which is aimed at all farms that keep cattle .

Regulations

The central pillar of the remediation is the examination obligation, which results from § 3 of the ordinance. The aim of the examination is to identify BVD virus shedders, so-called PI animals. After they have been diagnosed, these must be killed immediately to protect the other cattle in a herd.

Further regulations regulate the movement of cattle between different farms and the implementation of vaccination measures.
