history

In the 1920s, the BV Buer 07 soccer team played successfully in the Ruhrgau League , the top division at the time. The best place was a fifth place in 1925/26 . The Löchterheide sports field, opened in 1920, already held 20,000 spectators in 1925, 1,000 of them seated. However, when things went downhill in sporting and financial terms, the club faced dissolution in 1934. By merging with Westfalia Buer in 1939 both clubs became FC Buer . After the war, the old name was adopted again, under which the first team in 1951 rose to the Landesliga Westfalen , the highest amateur class and the third highest league.

In 1964, BVB 07, meanwhile at home in the district class, and DJK Sportfreunde Buer merged in 1928 to form the game and sports association Buer 07/28 , or SSV Buer 07/28 for short. After a few years in the district and district class, the SSV Buer succeeded in 1986 thanks to Matthias Herget - who trained the first team in addition to his main job as a player for Bayer 05 Uerdingen and in the German national team - the promotion to the district and in 1988 in the national league, in which the team was able to hold for three years. After a fall in the district league in the 1990s, the club was able to consolidate again and rose to the Westphalia Association for the first time in 2003 . After relegation in 2008, the first team played the following four years in the regional league, after relegating again in 2012 now only in the district league. Another four years later, the SSV returned to the national league.

The club has had its own tennis facility since 1984 .
