The BWT Bau AG , based in Winterthur - Wülflingen is one of the oldest Zurich Construction. The traditional company founded by Johann Georg Deller in 1840 today employs more than 300 people.

Field of activity

The main field of activity of BWT Bau AG is the conversion and renovation of buildings. This includes the new construction and conversion as well as the renovation and refurbishment of valuable building fabric. Other activities of the construction company are demolition work, additions, extensions and the processing of concrete. BWT Bau AG is also responsible for the elimination of pollutants such as asbestos, PCBs and PAHs and other pollutants, compliance with regulations relating to fire protection, earthquake safety and monument preservation.

Founding family and early development

The master mason Johann Georg Deller , born in 1808, came from a long-established Wülflinger family. He was married to Anna Deller, nee Huber, with whom he had three children; Felix Deller, Regula Deller and Luise Deller. From 1835, Johann Georg Deller began to do minor masonry work on his own account. And in 1840 he finally founded a sole proprietorship that formed the cornerstone of what would later become BWT Bau AG. In 1859 he and his wife Anna and their three children moved into the "Zum Schützen" house at Wieshofstrasse 53, where a work station with a magazine was set up. A few years later his son Felix Deller-Benz became involved in the company. And in 1865 Christian Müller, master bricklayer from Neftenbach , who was married to Johann Georg Deller's daughter Regula Deller, joined the company. As a result, the company's name was changed to Deller & Müller. The third child of the company founder, Luise Deller, was married to Heinrich Müller, von Gächlingen (SH). However, the family was not involved in the company and later part of this branch of the family emigrated to Italy . The inventor and motorcycle racer Eugenio A. Beltrami is a direct descendant of this family branch.

Winterthur-Wülflingen in 1919

In 1878 the Deller & Müller company finally acquired the sawmill and carpentry on Wülflingerstrasse, which are still the headquarters and workplaces of BWT Bau AG today. Company founder Johann Georg Deller died in 1879 at the age of seventy-one.

Later development

In 1919, one year after the end of the First World War , the company almost went out of business. But it was finally decided to continue the business and changed the name to "AG Baugeschäft Wülflingen". The construction activity that began in 1925 led to a great boom for the company. The entire technical operation and the mechanical facilities were renewed. At the end of the 1990s the company merged with AG Baugeschäft Turbenthal and U. Bonomo Söhne AG to form BWT Bau AG. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of BWT Bau AG has been Philipp Jöhr since 2001, a direct descendant of the sixth generation of the company's founder Johann Georg Dellers.
