Bab Ezzouar ( Arabic باب الزوار) is a municipality in the province of Algiers in the north of Algeria with 96,597 inhabitants (as of 2008). The city has the character of a suburb of Algiers . It is one of the fastest growing communities in Algiers and many hotels and shopping centers have been built in the area. Bab Ezzouar is also the site of the Houari Boumedienne University of Science and Technology (USTHB), one of the most famous technological universities in Algeria.

According to the Köppen and Geiger climate classification , Bab Ezzouar has a Mediterranean climate (Csa).

history

Bab Ezzouar is a city made up of commuter towns that have been built one after another on an old swampy plain with unplanned subdivisions since the late 1970s. As of 2001, the state has built several districts with 22-story residential buildings.

economy
