| The 20-year-old bartender Ben Wheeler is surprised when suddenly baby Emma is lying in front of his apartment, which his ex-girlfriend Angela has put in front of the door. He gets help from his mother, roommate Tucker, best friend Riley Perrin, and brother Danny. When Angela comes back, she wants Ben to sign the adoption papers, but he refuses because he has fallen in love with Emma. He decides to raise that baby. | |||||||

| Bonnie is concerned that the boys are not taking proper care of Emma. Ben wants to prove to his mother that he can take care of Emma and that he has everything under control. Through a series of mishaps, Emma is accidentally left alone in the apartment. Ben feels his first parental fears emerge and he realizes that he needs help to become a good father. | |||||||

| Ben and Tucker go to their first doctor's appointment with Emma. There Ben meets the nurse Cassie and wants to meet her. When Riley hears about this, she is jealous, but Ben promises that she will befriend Cassie. Now, Danny has his first hockey game with the New York Rangers ; being very superstitious, he wears an old high school jersey that is never washed before a game, and Bonnie follows this ritual. When Tucker tries to clean the apartment, he accidentally washes Danny's jersey and it shrinks. Danny is devastated. At the game, Cassie tells Riley that she knows she likes Ben. She also says that Ben will only ever see Riley as a friend. This results in a fight between the girls in which they are all watched. In the end, Danny declares Emma to be his new lucky charm. | |||||||

Riley gives him tips for talking and Danny takes them to heart. The two get closer and Danny kisses Riley; then they are embarrassed. Bonnie creates a profile on an online dating website. | |||||||

| Ray, the father of Danny and Ben, shows up at Ben, who tries to bring him and Bonnie back together. When Ray learns what Ben is up to, he confesses to his son that he is a homosexual and that he lives with a man named Steve. Ben wants to get to know Steven and meets him in a bar. | Riley is supposed to plan her friend Katie's wedding. She receives support from her friends. But Danny and Tucker ruin the wedding cake and try to fix it. After the bachelorette party, Ben and Katie wake up in bed together believing they were having sex. Katie feels extremely guilty and tries to cancel the wedding. But Ben stops her and gives her a lecture about true love. Riley overhears the conversation, and the words touch her. It turns out that a sucker from school, Gene, played a prank on the two of them and that the two never had sex. After the wedding, Ben invites Riley to dance. The two are watched by the jealous Danny. | |||||||
