Baby Elephant Walk

Baby Elephant Walk is a 1962 song by Henry Mancini. It was made for the comedy Hatari! written that takes place in East Africa. The song is attributed with a childish, playful character that made it a successful catchy tune .

In 1962 Mancini received a Grammy Award for best instrumental arrangement for the song . In his autobiography Mancini mentions that the song is written in the style of boogie-woogie , because when looking at a scene in the film, small, running elephants in the way they walked strongly reminded him of boogie-woogie.

The song was covered by Lawrence Welk , Bert Kaempfert , Dalida , Tommy Seebach and Judy Lynn , among others .
