Mini Babybel

Babybel is the brand name of a semi-hard cheese made from cow's milk industrially produced by the Fromageries Bel dairy in France .

history

Since 1952, the red Babybel has been available in small, round loaves with a paraffin coating, which means that it can be stored unrefrigerated for up to 10 days. It is the little brother of the Bonbel, which was previously sold in the same paraffin packs with a capacity of approx. 150 g. Its taste is mild and the consistency is relatively soft at room temperature.

There are several types of Babybel that differ in size, fat content and taste. The most common form is the Mini Babybel with 45% F. i. Tr. (Fat in the dry matter), which is sold as a container in a plastic net with 5,6,7,9 or 10 × 20 g; the Mini Babybel sold in the country of origin France weigh 22 g each. New mini babybels have recently been launched: a green pack made of goat milk, which was only available until 2014, a purple pack with Szechuan pepper and a light blue pack as Babybel light. There is also an Emmental- style Babybel packaged in yellow . In some packaging units of the Mini Babybel, a small polypropylene pan is included in which a single cheese can be melted in the microwave oven .

There is also a larger version with only one cheese per package and 50% F. i. Tr., The light versions with 25% and 27% F. i. Tr., The purple Mini Babybel Cheddar , the green Mini Babybel herbs and the Mini Babybel Emmentaler Art , with 44% F. i. Tr. with a slightly spicy taste.

According to the manufacturer, all variants, except for the green Mini Babybel, are made without preservatives.
