Babylon Zoo
Babylon Zoo was the name of a space rock project by the British multi-instrumentalist Jas Mann .
biography
The band ended in early 1996 with the single Spaceman and the associated self-made science fiction - video clip in B-movie -style an international number one hit . The success was based not least on the use of the song in a commercial for Levi’s jeans.
With the following single Animal Army , Babylon Zoo reached the top 20 of the British charts again . But with the third single The Boy with the X-Ray Eyes , which was only to be found in the middle of the British charts for two weeks , the group could not build on the initial success. The 1998 album King Kong Groover was also commercially unsuccessful, only the release All the Money's Gone climbed a position in the UK charts.
The Babylon Zoo project experienced a brief renaissance with the release of the song Love Lies Bleeding on the Internet.
Before his time as the mastermind behind Babylon Zoo, Jas Mann, a son of American-Indian parents, was a songwriter, singer and guitarist for the Britpop group The Sandkings, who never got beyond the status of a small independent band. During his Babylon Zoo phase, Jas Mann's androgynous nature caused a stir.
