The Bachchor Mannheim is an oratorio choir in Mannheim and church choir at the Christ Church . The choir sings an extensive repertoire of oratorios and cantatas. The works of its namesake Johann Sebastian Bach form a focus. The choir has also made a name for itself with performances of contemporary works, including premieres of the Easter oratorio by Oskar Gottlieb Blarr and the oratorio Jona by Samuel Adler .

history

The Mannheim Bach Choir was founded in 1914 by the then cantor and organist at the Christ Church Arno Landmann. Since 1999 the choir has been under the direction of church music director Johannes Matthias Michel .

Several times a year, the choir performs great works of choral literature in concerts. He regularly organizes the services at the Christ Church, especially at the solemn festivals of the church year.
