Back is a small impact crater near the eastern edge of the moon . It is located on the northwestern edge of Mare Smythii and its northeastern edge borders on the Schubert crater . To the west is the Jenkins crater and to the southwest is the pair of twins formed by the Weierstrass and Van Vleck craters .

Back is almost circular and has a narrow, sharp-edged crater wall without significant traces of erosion.
