Bakehouse in law

The baking house in Recht , a district of the Belgian municipality of Sankt Vith in the province of Liège , was built around 1840. The bakery has been a protected cultural monument since 1994 .

The communal bakery was probably built by the Tyrolean stonemason families Zangerle, Starck, Graf and Meyer, who settled in Recht between 1725 and 1735 and developed the mining of slate on a large scale. They built their houses near the bakery.

The layers of slate are clearly visible on the bakehouse. This is an indication that the stone comes from the upper layers of the adit , as the stone from the deeper layers is much more compact.

During work in the vicinity of the bakery, a deep well with a slate surround was discovered on the south side .
