History, description, use

The three-storey, seven-axle eaves house was built in 1710. The facade was renewed in 1880. It has very elaborate stucco decor. The friezes separating floors show plant ornaments. The pilasters next to the windows on all three floors are designed differently on each floor. The windows on the ground floor are crowned in a baroque style.

Above the portal there is a coat of arms that indicated the owner E. Mackenthun Sohn of the workshops that ran across the entire width of the house. The advertising boards from the mid-19th century have been preserved above the ground floor windows and the portal. As a result, the factory specialized in mirrors, furniture, sculptures, decorations and glazing. - One line on the ground floor is used as a picture gallery.

The workshops were still there after the Second World War.

The house is located in the core area of ​​the city ​​area recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site of the historical old towns Stralsund and Wismar . It is entered with the number 60 in the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund .
