The Marl bathing pond is a natural pond in the town of Marl in North Rhine-Westphalia , which borders the Marl Chemical Park . About half of the pond is bathing water , which is promoted by the chemical company Evonik Industries in the Marl Chemical Park, while the rest is closed off as a biotope . The water area is divided into a non-swimmer and a swimmer area, the bank areas into sunbathing and play areas. Among other things, the pond is the habitat of herons .

The pond is 2–3 km from Marl-Mitte . The distance to Haltern am See is approx. 7 km. Other lakes nearby are the Tenderingssee at 27 km, the Halterner Stausee at 11 km, the Silbersee at 15 km and the Ewaldsee at 12 km. The water surface is 170 by 245 meters. There are several sports fields and an indoor swimming pool nearby, which are also sponsored by Evonik.
