Baden Secession

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The artists' association Badische Secession was founded in 1927 by Alexander Kanoldt and Karl Hofer in Freiburg im Breisgau . Members were u. a. Karl Albiker , Emil Bizer , Rudolf Großmann , Max Eichin , Adolf Riedlin , Adolf Strübe and Rudolf Kreuter , Josef Huggle , Gertud P. Leonhard , Wladimir von Zabotin .

Although they were connected to the Baden cultural landscape in their pictures , their modern painting clearly set them apart from traditional local painters such as B. August Gebhard exits. They organized their own exhibitions, but also took part in other exhibitions as a group.

In 1936, the artists' association was dissolved in the course of the National Socialist conformity . Revived after the Second World War , it appeared in 1947 with its “Seventh Exhibition” and in 1951 with an “VIII. Exhibition “again to the public.
