The group 133c which ranked Grand Ducal Baden State Railways , abbreviated BadStB, 1902-1905 a steam railcar with Serpollet - boiler one.
history
As an alternative to using the small two-axle locomotives of the Id type on short trains , steam railcars were also used at the turn of the century.
In 1902, therefore, a steam powered railcar was ordered from the Esslingen machine factory , with the Serpollet boiler system, which was also used as an automobile drive at the time . Since the coal-fired Serpollet boiler, in contrast to automobile and commercial vehicle traffic and tram traffic, was not convincing in mainline rail traffic, the railcar was used as a railway company car as early as 1905.
Constructive features
The Serpollet boiler system consisted of several pieces of pipe with a sickle-shaped cross-section. Due to the design, only as much water was fed in as steam was required at the same time. The boiler was designed for a pressure of 25 bar.
The railcar itself was largely constructed like a passenger car . The wooden structure was erected on the frame of the vehicle . Access to the compartment was via an end stage, while the boiler and the driver's cab were on the other side .
