Badminton Canada

Badminton Canada is a sports association based in Ottawa and the top national administrative organization for the sport of badminton in Canada . President is Anil Kaul.

history

Badminton was first played in Canada in the early 20th century. In December 1921 the Canadian Badminton Association (CBA) was founded. In 1922 the first national title fights were held. In 1934 the CBA became a founding member of the Badminton World Federation , then known as the International Badminton Federation . In 1957 the Canadian Open started.

In 1976, the CBA became a founding member of the continental umbrella organization Badminton Pan Am , then known as the Pan American Badminton Confederation . The association hired important coaches such as Gordon Mack , Judy Devlin , Channarong Ratanaseangsuang and Paul Whetnall to advance the sport in the country . At the beginning of the new millennium, the association was renamed Badminton Canada .
