Badminton South Africa

The Badminton South Africa is the highest national administrative organization in the sport of badminton in South Africa . The association was founded in 1938 as the South African Badminton Union (SABU).

history

Shortly after its founding, the association became a member of the Badminton World Federation , then known as the International Badminton Federation in 1939 . Despite the early establishment in 1938, the first title fights in South Africa were not held until 1948. Due to the apartheid policy in South Africa, the association was excluded from international sporting events from 1970 to 1992. With the end of racial segregation, Badminton South Africa also became a member of the continental umbrella organization African Badminton Confederation .
