Swiss badminton

Swiss Badminton is the highest national administrative organization in the sport of badminton in Switzerland . The association was founded in 1954 as the Swiss Badminton Federation (SBF) and has an office in Ittigen . Meanwhile, there are around 15,000 licensed players who take part in regional tournaments and interclub gaming.

history

The first international tournament in Switzerland was held in Lausanne in 1953 before the association was founded in May 1954. The association soon became a member of the Badminton World Federation , then known as the International Badminton Federation . In 1967 the SBF also became a founding member of the continental umbrella organization Badminton Europe , then still known as the European Badminton Union . In 1955 both the national championships and the international championships started in Switzerland.
