The Swiss Paraplegic Association (abbreviated: SPV) is a national self-help organization for paraplegics based in Nottwil . 27 regional wheelchair clubs from all over Switzerland and over 10,000 members (including around 4,000 active members) are affiliated with the SPV.

history

After setting up the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation (SPS) as early as 1975 , a quarter of a century ago, on April 27, 1980, the Swiss Paraplegic Association (SPV) was founded by the then head physician of the Paraplegic Center Basel, Guido A. Zäch , together with the seven Wheelchair clubs that already existed at that time in Basel, Biel, Kriens, Uster, St. Gallen, Wetzikon and Zurich were founded.
