The Swiss Judo & Ju-Jitsu Association (SJV) is the umbrella organization for the two martial arts Judo and Jiu-Jitsu (Swiss: Ju-Jitsu) in Switzerland. It has around 300 member associations and with its 48,000 active Budōka is one of the largest sports associations in Switzerland. The association was founded in 1937 and is based in Ittigen .

structure

The SJV promoting Judo and Ju-Jitsu in both the grassroots and in competitive sports . Together with Jugend + Sport (Y + S) and the Swiss Association for Sport in Schools , he is involved in school sport . Further funding concepts exist for both children's and adult sports (cooperation with Adult Sports Switzerland) and disabled sports . Another focus is the subject of self-defense . Here the SJV works together with the Pallas association, which offers self-defense courses for women and girls.

In competitive sports, the SJV is the host of the Swiss individual and team championships in judo and looks after the Swiss national team. The association is organized in the Swiss Olympic . In Ju-Jitsu, the umbrella organization organizes the Swiss Ju-Jitsu Championship. A national team is also supported in the three types of competition Duo, Fighting and Ne-Waza, the aim of which is to qualify for the World Games and the World Combat Games .

In addition to the two main sports of Judo and Ju-Jitsu, the Swiss umbrella organization also takes care of Aikido , Kendo and Jōdō and Iaidō , which are organized in autonomous sections.
