The Swiss Canoe Association is the umbrella organization for canoeing in Switzerland .

history

The association was founded on May 17, 1925 in Brugg as the Association of Swiss River Wanderers and at that time had 31 members. In 1935, the association began working with the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS), as a triptych was required for trips abroad . Since the TCS was accused of not being a tourism club but an automobile club, the Association of Swiss River Wanderers merged with the TCS and has been the nautical section of the club ever since. On November 27, 1960, at the assembly of delegates, it was decided to change the name to “Swiss Canoe Association”.

organization

Today there are around 3'800 active members in 51 independent sections in the association. The management is based in Zurich and the annual budget is around CHF 800,000 . The statutes are integrated into those of the TCS.
