Československý Badmintonový Svaz

The Československý Badmintonový Svaz was the highest national administrative organization in the sport of badminton in the ČSSR . The association was founded in 1957 .

history

The association was founded in 1957 by only two Prague associations. However, the sport quickly spread over the whole country, with during the existence of the association athletes from the Czech part achieved the lion's share of national titles and international successes. The association became a member of the Badminton World Federation in 1964 , then known as the International Badminton Federation . The Československý Badmintonový Svaz also became a founding member of the continental umbrella organization Badminton Europe in 1967 , at that time still operating under the European Badminton Union . Czechoslovak individual championships were held for the first time in 1961, and team championships began in the 1963/1964 season. In 1972 the Czechoslovakian International took place for the first time. In 1973 the association played a key role in the initialization of the Plume d'Or . With the end of the ČSSR in 1992, the end of the association was sealed and the Český badmintonový svaz and the Slovenský zväz bedmintonu came into being on January 1, 1993.

• 1971 - The Junior European Championship takes place in what was then Gottwaldov

• 1975 - Michal Malý finished fifth at the European Championship
• 1992 - Tomasz Mendrek and Eva Lacinová take part in the Olympics
