Fédération Française de Badminton
The Fédération Française de Badminton (FFBA) is the highest national administrative organization in the sport of badminton in France . The association, based in Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis) , was founded in February 1979 , but existed much earlier as part of the French Tennis Association.
history
Badminton in its present form was first played in France in 1898 in Saint-Servan, where the British Army member JE Jones had a four-field hall built. Dieppe BC became a member of the Badminton Association and in November 1908 the French organized the French Open, the first ever international tournament on mainland Europe. In 1934 the French Tennis Federation was a founding member of the Badminton World Federation , then known as the International Badminton Federation . In 1968 the association also became a member of the continental umbrella organization Badminton Europe , at that time still operating under the name European Badminton Union . In 1973 the association played a key role in the initialization of the Plume d'Or .
