Danmarks Badminton Forbund (DBF) is the top national administrative organization in the sport of badminton in Denmark . The association, founded on January 15, 1930, is a member of the Danish Sports Association ( Danmarks Idræts-Forbund ) and has its seat in the House of Sports ( Idrættens Hus ) in Brøndby .

history

Badminton was first played in Denmark in 1925. The first attempts were made at Skovshoved IF , where the sports hall turned out to be too small for the outdoor tennis played up to now. The SIF was followed by the later world famous clubs Københavns BK and Gentofte BK . The first Danish championships were held in the 1930/1931 season and the Denmark Open in the 1935/1936 season . In the meantime Danmarks Badminton Forbund had become a founding member of the Badminton World Federation , then known as the International Badminton Federation , in 1934 . In 1967 the DBF also became a founding member of the continental umbrella organization Badminton Europe , then known as the European Badminton Union . The number of members of the association grew rapidly. In 1939 around 10,000 players were registered, in 1985 it was already 171,049, which at that time meant the second largest membership in the world.
