Badwater Ultramarathon

The Badwater Ultramarathon is one of the toughest ultramarathons in the world. The 135 mile (217.26 km) route runs from Badwater ( 36 ° 13 ′ 49 ″  N , 116 ° 46 ′ 3 ″  W ) in Death Valley to the Whitney Portal at 2,530 meters on Mount Whitney , California . After Al Arnold could not nearly finish the course he had planned in Death Valley in the previous years due to dehydration and other injuries, he succeeded after long sauna training (45 minutes on the exercise bike at over 90 ° C) and further preparation Route to be conquered in 1977. The distance

The start is in Badwater in Death Valley at 85 m below sea level. The goal: Mount Whitney
  • There is no prize money for the winners of the run. Every participant who completes the course within 60 hours receives a certificate and every runner who can finish the race in 48 hours or less receives a belt buckle.
