Bagram , sometimes also written as Anbam , is a region in the Afghan province of Parwan and at the same time the administrative district of the same name in this area.

In addition to the military base Bagram Air Base , which was built in the 1950s with Soviet help and is now used by the United States and its allies, there is a larger village immediately in front of this base and a large number of smaller villages spread across the landscape .

The military base is an important employer for the local population, so many Afghans living in the area work at the base. The infrastructure is comparatively good by Afghan standards. For example, several paved country roads run through the area; there is also an asphalt road connection to the Afghan capital Kabul .

Already at the time of the Greco-Bactrian rule, i.e. in the 3rd or 2nd century BC. The first city was founded in the area. The area is home to ruins of an ancient city and remains of several Buddhist sites. It is assumed that the archaeological sites of Graem also include the former town of Kapisa , the summer residence of the Kushana under Kanishka's rule. The largest finds became internationally known as the treasure of Graem .
