The term BahnComfort describes the bonus system introduced by Deutsche Bahn on December 15, 2002 . This serves to strengthen customer loyalty by providing additional services and discounts for frequent travelers. BahnComfort is part of the BahnBonus program. The system is operated by Loyalty Partner for the purpose of customer data evaluation and customer loyalty.

According to Deutsche Bahn, around 160,000 people had frequent driver status in mid-2013.

Until March 31, 2011, the frequent driver program was known as bahn.comfort . Between 2011 and before 2020 it was marketed as bahn.bonus comfort .

history

In mid-February 2002, plans by Deutsche Bahn to introduce frequent driver status became known.

From April 15, 2002, BahnCard holders could collect bahn.comfort points. In the start-up phase up to December 15, 2002, 1,000 points were required within six months to qualify for the status that was introduced when the timetable was changed on December 15, 2002. Holders of a Personal NetzCard and a personal DPT regular customer subscription with a ticket value of at least 2,000 euros were automatically qualified for bahn.comfort. The introduction of the bahn.comfort status was part of the new pricing system launched on December 15, 2002 .

By the end of 2002, over 100,000 customers had qualified. At the end of 2006 the number of bahn.comfort customers was around 160,000, at the end of 2007 it was 200,000, and in mid-2013 it was 160,000.

At the beginning of 2011, Loyalty Partner announced that it would operate customer relationship management at bahn.comfort for a further six years. As of April 1, 2011, bahn.bonus was repositioned to clarify the structure of the program (points, bonuses, status). In this context, bahn.comfort was renamed to bahn.bonus comfort .

BahnCard 50 Comfort 2011/12

All holders of a BahnCard , BonusCard Business and Comfort card (for the DB Job Ticket) can take part in BahnBonus. When purchasing tickets, you can voluntarily collect award points (for redeeming them for awards) and status points (for BahnComfort status). Every euro or part thereof (minimum turnover: five euros) corresponds to one bonus and status point. Seat reservations and pure local transport offers within transport associations, on the other hand, are not collectible. Group travel tickets (more than five people on one ticket) can be collected for award points, but not for status points. Status points are valid 365 days after they are credited.

Tickets that were bought to collect bonus and status points have been labeled bahn.bonus since 2010 (previously bahn.comfort ).

With the introduction of the free BahnBonus Card, customers without a valid BahnCard were able to collect points for BahnComfort. In order to be able to use the additional services with a score of at least 2000, a valid BahnCard is required.

If 2,000 status points are reached within 12 months, a new BahnCard with BahnComfort status is issued. This is highlighted in silver gray (BahnCard 100: black) and bears the addition BahnComfort . It replaces the previous BahnCard and entitles you to use the BahnComfort services. The discount level and validity period correspond to the previous card.

After the validity of this card expires, the next card (if ordered) will only be issued with BahnComfort status if the status point balance at the beginning of the term is at least 2,000 points. (Until December 12, 2010, the follow- up card to the first BahnComfort card was automatically a BahnComfort card again after the status was achieved .)

Holders of a BahnCard 100 and holders of a personal annual pass or a DB job ticket worth at least 2,000 euros automatically have BahnComfort status.
