history
The station was opened on July 28, 1883 by the first private railway company in Japan, the Nippon Tetsudō ( 日本 鉄 道 , "Japan Railway"), as a passenger station on the route between Ueno and Kumagaya . In 1987, on April 1, the previous station of the state railway became the property of JR Higashi-Nihon, which had emerged from the privatization of the state railway. Since November 29, 1991, the subway station on the Namboku line has been in operation and on April 1, 2001, with the privatization of the lines, it became the property of the Tōkyō Metro.
Since November 18, 2001, the Suica can be used as an electronic ticket at JR Higashi-Nihon Station .
