The Meguro Station ( Jap. 目黒駅 , Meguro-eki ) is located in Shinagawa in Tokyo on the border with Meguro and lies directly south of the road Meguro-dori. The station is supported by the Yamanote Line approached and is the terminus of two subway lines, to Meguro-line by bound are. It is served by four lines from four different companies.

history

Meguro station was opened on March 16, 1885 as a passenger station. About 25 years after it opened, the Yamanote Line first served it on October 12, 1909. 14 years later, on March 11, 1923, the station was first served by the Kamata Meguro Dentetsu (now Tōkyū). It was not until more than 75 years later that a third company, the Toei-U-Bahn , used the station, whose station opened on August 6, 2000. Since April 1, 2004, the station has been served by a fourth line from another railway company, the Namboku line of the Tōkyō Metro .

Type of construction and tracks

Meguro station is built as a through station. It has four tracks running north-south and is served by a total of four companies. The two above-ground tracks approach a central platform and are served by the Yamanote line. The two underground tracks, which are also approached at a central platform, are used by a total of three companies. Track 1 of the Meguro line of the Tōkyū and track 2 of both the Namboku line of the Tōkyō Metro and the Mita line of the Toei subway are used in parallel.

Meguro station is served by the Yamanote line and the Namboku line of the Tōkyō Metro and is shown in the company's route map as the starting station of this line. In addition to the Tōkyō Metro, the station is also served by the Toei subway with the Mita line. The station is indicated on the company's route map as the starting station of the line. The fourth company that serves the station is the Tōkyū with the Meguro line, for this is specified on the network map of the company Meguro as the terminus. In 2014, the Yamanote line at the station was used by an average of 106,504 passengers a day, making it 31st of over 900 on the list of the most frequently used stations on the JR East in 2014. The Namboku line was used by an average of 105,289 passengers a day in the financial year. In 2007, an average of 37,043 passengers got on and 36,249 got off the Toei Mita line at the station. In 2007, an average of 135,432 passengers got on and 85,997 got off the Tōkyū on the Meguro line at the station.
