The Burg (Spreewald) train station is a former train station in the Spreewald town of Burg . Since the Spreewaldbahn was shut down in 1970, it has no longer been used as a train station. The station building, which is under monument protection , is currently used for catering purposes.
history
The station was built in 1898 as part of the construction of the Spreewaldbahn, a narrow-gauge railway that ran from Lübben via Burg to Cottbus . The inauguration of the station took place on June 29, 1898. The building was built as a massive construction, with the attic and the tower being half-timbered . The station building is covered by a hipped roof. For lighting purposes there are small roof houses, which are crowned by hip roofs . The motif of the snake king is attached to the wind slats .
The building served as a train station for over 70 years. With the closure of the Spreewaldbahn on January 3, 1970, this function was lost. However, it was converted into a restaurant and guesthouse, which has existed in its current form since 1995. Following on from the tradition of the house, historic railway wagons stand on the platform tracks. The guest room is decorated with utensils and signs from the history of the railway. Model trains take orders for drinks and bring them to the tables.
