Colegiales train station

The Colegiales train station is a train station in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires and is located in the district of the same name . The station is part of the Retiro – Tigre line of the Miter railway network , only suburban trains stop to José León Suárez and Bartolomé Miter , the neighboring stations are Belgrano R and Ministro Carranza . The station is parallel between Calle Crámer and Calle Moldes and perpendicular to Avenida Federico Lacroze .

history

The station was put into operation in 1898 by the then operator Ferrocarril Central Argentino . In contrast to many other train stations in Buenos Aires that gave the district its name. the district of La Chacarita de los Colegiales was already running, so that the station was nicknamed "Colegiales". Together with the suburban train station, the parallel freight station went into operation, which at the time was one of the largest in the city with around nine Manzanas . When the station opened, it had three platforms. In terms of design, the station was based on the neighboring stations, such as Centrángolo, Luis M. Drago, Migueletes, Chilavert and José L. Suarez.

In the meantime, only two side platforms are still in use, with the third track leading past the northern side platform. The originally preserved waiting room and the sanitary facilities were closed by the private operator Trenes de Buenos Aires in the 1990s, although the buildings are still there today, as there is also a ticket office there. The striking bridge over the tracks from the opening years, which connects both side platforms with one another, has also been preserved to this day.

Today the station is operated by the ADIF , the suburban trains by the private operator Corredores Ferroviarios and the freight trains by Nuevo Central Argentino .

Since the opening of the station, this has been an elementary and formative part of the district of the same name. The barrio takes its historical significance into account by including it in its emblema (translated as symbol, logo). The station is listed - along with a painting and a drawing by him - in the digital catalog of the cultural heritage of the Ministry of Culture of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

Cuando se inauguró en 1898 una parada del Ferrocaril Central Argentino (actual General Miter), la zona ya se llamaba Colegiales, por lo que la estación recibió el mismo nombre. “ Info: The archive link was automatically inserted and not yet checked.
