history
Planning and construction
The citizens of Ebersbach received the news with enthusiasm that they were getting a train station on the Eastern Railway from Stuttgart to Ulm . The Royal Württemberg State Railroad was unable to build the line along the Fils for geological reasons . Instead, she chose a route variant that led through the middle of the village. Even buildings had to give way for construction. It can still be seen today that the unfavorable route cut the community in two. While the town center is located south of the tracks, the church, with Kirchberg, which was already settled at the time, is north of the railway line. There was a level crossing on the road to Büchenbronn. Steggasse is still reminiscent of the pedestrian overpass that was first built in 1847.
State Railroad Time
On October 11, 1847, the state railway opened the eastern section of the Plochingen - Süßen and inaugurated the Ebersbach station, which was built on the Brühl hill. The community agreed to help finance the reception building. The building has been preserved. It is a two-story sandstone building that initially only had one floor. In May 1853, the station, east of the reception building, received a small goods shed. For the post office, the reception building had to be extended in 1856 by an extension. Between 1859 and 1862, the state railroad expanded the eastern railway between Plochingen and Ulm to two tracks . In order to expand the freight yard, she acquired additional properties in 1862 and built an enlarged freight shed. The station building also had to be enlarged again in 1865. The wooden pedestrian overpass was replaced by an iron walkway in 1866.
The then mayor Geyer and the municipal councils vehemently rejected the settlement of industrial companies. It was not until 1862 that a textile entrepreneur founded the Scheuffelen cloth factory. It remained the only factory until 1887. The mayor Frank, appointed in 1882, tried to remedy the industrial deficit.
Ebersbach station has had a passing track for passing trains since 1893. On December 17, 1899, the post office, which had been used for telegraphing since 1866, also got a telephone connection. In 1909 she moved into a new building on Bahnhofstrasse (later house number 15; demolished in 2010).
Reich and Bundesbahn time
On June 1, 1933, the Deutsche Reichsbahn electrified the Stuttgart – Ulm route and integrated it into the Stuttgart suburban traffic . The iron walkway had to give way for the overhead lines to be installed.
After the Second World War , the station was mainly operated by electric trains that ran between Plochingen and Geislingen (Steige) . Since June 15, 1967, passengers have had a covered central platform between tracks 2 and 3.
In the 1970s, the Deutsche Bundesbahn made extensive changes to the station. Modern rooms for travelers and servants were created. For this purpose, she built a new one-story extension on the eastern side. She dismantled the previous extension. Completion took place on May 15, 1975. The new building with a flat roof had new offices and a ticket office as well as a restaurant and a kiosk. The old station building was extensively renovated from 1974 to 1975.
Despite protests, the Federal Railroad tore down the goods shed on May 20, 1976 to create parking spaces. Since then, it has no longer been possible to send general cargo from Ebersbach.
Rail operations
The station is served by regional trains. The trains in the direction of Göppingen stop on platform 1, the main platform . Track 2 is used by the trains in the direction of Plochingen. The trains in the direction of Plochingen also stop on platform 3, but only when another train is overtaking.
The Ebersbach (Fils) train station corresponds, according to the Deutsche Bahn AG of Bahnhof Category 4th
