The Götzendorf an der Leitha train station is a railway station in the same town on the Eastern Railway .

Structure and location

The station is located north of the town of Götzendorf an der Leitha in the district of Am Bahnhof an der Ostbahn at kilometer 27. It is served by regional express trains and trains on the S60 S-Bahn . It has four platforms that can be reached via an underpass. The reception building is located on the southern side of the railway, together with bicycle parking spaces, parking spaces and ticket machines. To the east of the train station there is a level crossing on Leitha Straße B60 . East of the station, two branches of the Ostbahn branch off - one to Schwadorf and on to Fischamend and one to Mannersdorf . The branch line to Mannersdorf is still operated for freight traffic due to the cement works located there.

history

The station was opened in 1846 as part of the completion of the Eastern Railway. Passenger traffic on the branch line to Fischamend ceased in 1951.

For a long time, a new rail connection between Fischamend and Götzendorf called Götzendorfer Spange was planned. In April 2015 it was announced that this project would no longer be pursued and instead a route would be planned along the east A4 motorway via Bruck an der Leitha .
