The Gongguan Station ( Chinese  公館站 , Pinyin Gōngguǎn Zhàn ) is a metro station on the green line (Xindian line) of the MRT Taipei , located between the districts of Da'an and Zhongzheng near the National Taiwan University . It opened on November 11, 1999.

Overview

The station is an underground island station with four entrances and exits.

On the east side is the main campus of the National Taiwan University , on the west side is the Gongguan night market with many shops and restaurants.

history

Gongguan Station on the Taiwan Railroad

  • January 22, 1921: The Wanhua –Gongguan section of the Xindian Line is opened.
  • March 25, 1921: The Xindian Line continues from Gongguan to Xindian Station .
  • March 24, 1965: The station ceases to operate along with the Xindian line.

As the station of the MRT Taipei

  • The original plan to establish National Taiwan University Station at Xinsheng Nanlu Intersection and Gongguan Station at Jilong Lu Intersection will be changed and the two stations will be merged.
  • November 11, 1999: The station is opened together with the Guting –Xindian section .
  • June 17, 2010: A handicapped-accessible elevator will be opened at Exit 2.
