The bearded warbler ( Phylloscopus schwarzi ) is a North Asian species from the family of warblers (Phylloscopidae). No subspecies are described.

Although the breeding areas of the bearded warbler are more than 3,000 kilometers away, wanderers are very rarely observed in Central Europe. The observations come mainly from the North Sea coast.

The bearded warbler reaches a body length of twelve to thirteen centimeters. Males weigh on average just under fourteen grams, while the females weigh thirteen grams.

The distribution area of ​​the bearded warbler extends from the region of Sakhalin over the Amurland to the northeast of the People's Republic of China and the north of Korea . In the westerly direction of distribution, the bearded warbler occurs through southern Siberia to central Siberia on the upper Ob . There are no European breeding occurrences.

The winter quarters of the bearded warbler is southeast Asia from China to Myanmar . They begin to move away from the breeding area in September and reach the northern edge of their winter quarters at the end of October. The retreat begins in mid-March and the breeding grounds are reached again from mid-May.

The habitat are light forests with a well-developed herb or shrub layer. It also occurs on the edge of dense taiga and also lives in mountains on the upper tree line. The diet consists of spiders and insects. The food is mainly sought in the herbaceous and lower shrub layers.
