Einhard Bezzel (born August 26, 1934 in Illertissen ) is a German ornithologist , author and animal photographer .

biography

Bezzel is a trained teacher and taught biology, chemistry, geography and social studies at a grammar school from 1959 to 1965. In 1966 he moved to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and took over the management of the state bird sanctuary . He held this position until his retirement in 1999. In 1970 he was one of the founders of the umbrella association of German Avifaunists (DDA), which aims to promote field ornithology and avifaunistics on a scientific basis.

From 1971 to 1997 he was editor of the Journal for Ornithology of the German Ornithological Society . From 1996 to 2007 he was editor-in-chief of Der Falke magazine . In addition, he was Secretary General of the Ornithological Society in Bavaria and member of the board of the State Association for Bird Protection . In 1997 he was Vice President of the German Ornithological Society. Today he is an honorary member of this society.

Bezzel wrote over 500 specialist articles and several books on birds.

He is the father of the actor Sebastian Bezzel .
