State bird sanctuary Garmisch-Partenkirchen

The state ornithological station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is an ornithological station that is affiliated with the Bavarian State Office for the Environment in Augsburg and is managed there as Section 55 "Bird Protection" in Department 5 "Nature Conservation, Landscape Management". The office is located on the southern slope of the Wank in the Bavarian municipality of Garmisch-Partenkirchen . Bernd-Ulrich Rudolph is responsible for the management of the office, Stefan Kluth takes over the representation.

The main tasks of the bird sanctuary are research into bird protection and the gathering of knowledge in the field of ornithology . For this purpose, among other things, a systematic recording and observation of different bird species is carried out (so-called bird monitoring).
