The Israeli State Railways awarded the contract to design the station to Barchana Architects , while the companies Ramat and Hofree Hasharon won the tender for the construction of the underground station, including the platforms. Due to financial problems of the construction company Ramat, the construction work was delayed and only started again in spring 2010. The station is to be opened together with the new line to Tel Aviv . The last opening was planned for March 2018. The station was finally inaugurated on Yom Kippur in September 2018, with trains initially only commuting to Ben Gurion Airport, as the remaining section to Tel Aviv has not yet been electrified.
