Saalfeld is a district of the municipality Flecken Apenburg-Winterfeld in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany.
geography
The Altmark village of Saalfeld, a round square village with a church on the square, is about 10 kilometers southeast of the district town of Salzwedel . The Purnitz flows west of the village .
history
Saalfeld was first mentioned in a document as Selvelde in 1316 , when Margrave Johann sold two farms in the village to the altar Cyriaci and Luciae in the collegiate church of the Heilig-Geist monastery in Salzwedel.
The place is listed twice in the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375. The first mention is Czelvelde, the families von Bodendieck and von Chüden owned here, as well as the Kaland and the Heilig-Geist monastery in Salzwedel. The second mention is Selvelde, belonging to the Chüden family in Salzwedel, who from the Schulenburg had income here. Other later forms of the name are Zelvelde, Zalvelde, Selvelde.
To the left of the road to Quadendambeck, there was a windmill at the beginning of the 20th century . In the southeast of the village in the north of the Köhnbusch forest area there is a former lignite mine .
Until the 19th century, Saalfeld was a round village . In 2016, the 700th anniversary was celebrated in the village.
Incorporations
On July 25, Saalfeld was from the district Salzwedel in the county Kalbe (Milde) reclassified. On December 4, 1952, the community was reclassified to the Salzwedel district . On January 1, 1974, the municipality of Saalfeld was incorporated into the municipality of Altensalzwedel.
On July 1, 2009, the Altensalzwedel community merged with other communities to form Flecken Apenburg-Winterfeld. On the same day, Saalfeld came to Apenburg-Winterfeld as a district.

The Reformation was introduced in 1540. The Protestant Christians from Saalfeld belong to the parish Altensalzwedel, which belonged to the parish Altensalzwedel. Today, the church belongs to the parish area Apenburg the church district Salzwedel in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
Culture and sights
- The Evangelical village church in Saalfeld is a small stone building from the 13th century. A half-timbered roof tower rises above the west gable. The first mentions as a daughter church of Altensalzwedel come from the years 1551 and 1579. Local historians interpret this as a period in which a chapel was built in the village.
