The Kiel-Hassee CITTI-PARK station is a train station in the Hassee district of Kiel . It is located on the Kiel – Flensburg and Kiel – Husum railway lines . The station was reactivated in 2007 as a so-called public-private partnership project in passenger transport. The state of Schleswig-Holstein, the city of Kiel and the CITTI-PARK shopping center each borne a third of the costs.

history

former station building Kiel-Hassee (2017)

The Kiel – Flensburg railway was opened in 1881. The then still independent village of Hassee received a stop on the route. The importance of the station grew with the construction of the railway line to Rendsburg , which was opened on October 15, 1904. The line to the Kiel West freight yard , which was supposed to serve the factories in the west of the city, branched off here since 1924. Originally the route was supposed to lead to Holtenau.

Passenger traffic in the station was given up in 1981. The line to Kiel West was closed in 1993 and the connecting point expanded in 2008.

In 2007, passenger traffic in Kiel-Hassee was resumed, the new platforms are about 250 meters north of the old platform. From this point onwards, it was served hourly by the regional trains between Kiel and Eckernförde, which ran on weekdays, so that there was no stop on Sunday during the day. These trains now also run on Sundays. The additionally introduced regional trains between Kiel and Rendsburg have been stopping here since January 2015. (As of 2019)

In the outskirts of the day, the regional trains from Kiel to Flensburg also serve the station.

The new station has two 160-meter-long side platforms that can be reached via a pedestrian overpass with stairs and an elevator. The overpass leads directly into the shopping center.

The track systems have been dismantled. There are only two continuous tracks left. In the south all switches except for the entrance switch have been removed, there is still a siding and a siding available. To the south of the station, the tracks to Kiel Hbf. And to the Kiel-Meimersdorf marshalling yard separate.

The former reception building is still there, it is used as a youth meeting place for the city of Kiel.

The August G. Koch machine factory, which refurbished tank wagons, was located at Kiel-Hassee station. It had its own factory locomotives. The machine shop's workshop, which was under monument protection in 1939/40, was demolished for the construction of the shopping center.
