Burchell Alexander McPherson (born May 7, 1951 in Mavis Bank , County Surrey , Jamaica ) is Bishop of Montego Bay .

Life

Burchell Alexander McPherson grew up as the youngest of six siblings in a Methodist family in Halls Delight in the Blue Mountains . Through his Pentecostal mother, McPherson came into contact with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and converted to the Catholic Church in 1976 . He led the youth ministry in the Archdiocese of Kingston, Jamaica , until Archbishop Samuel Emmanuel Carter SJ appointed him as a layman to lead a church in Kingston . In 1986 he was ordained a deacon and on June 23, 1991 he received the sacrament of ordination . As a priest he was u. a. Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul in Kingston.

On April 11, 2013, Pope Francis Burchell named Alexander McPherson Bishop of Montego Bay. The episcopal ordination donated him the archbishop emeritus of Kingston, Jamaica, Donald James Reece , on June 8 of the same year; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Mandeville , Neil Edward Tiedemann CP , and the Archbishop of Kingston, Jamaica, Charles Henry Dufour .
