List of train stations in Italy |
The Lana-Burgstall train station ( Italian: Stazione di Lana-Postal ) is located on the Bozen – Meran railway in South Tyrol .
location
The station is located at an altitude of 264 m in the middle of the Adige Valley between the villages of Burgstall and Lana . Immediately to the west of the tracks the Etsch flows past, on the opposite orographically right side of the river runs the MeBo expressway . Immediately north of the train station, a bridge provides a road crossing from Burgstall, to whose municipal area the train station belongs, over the Adige to Lana.
history
The Lana-Burgstall station was opened in 1881 together with the newly built Bozen – Meran railway. Between 1913 and 1974 the local railway Lana-Burgstall-Oberlana branched off from here , connecting the station with the center of Lana. Since 1928 a block of flats designed by Angiolo Mazzoni for railway workers has been added to the original building stock. The last major construction works at the station date back to 2007: the platforms were raised, the lighting was renewed and points were laid for 1.5 million euros .
Buildings
The station complex has been preserved in almost its original condition. The Shoo building gives the impression of a posh style country house. It is two-story, designed with an embossed structure and has a T-shaped floor plan. It is supplemented by an attached wooden warehouse. The building has been a listed building since 2004.
Since 2012, the restored iron truss bridge over the Etsch of the former local railway to Oberlana has been right next to the train station .
function
Lana-Burgstall station is served by regional trains from Trenitalia and SAD , which also operate bus connections to the station.
