Ekaterina Potego ( Russian Екатерина Потего ) (born April 21, 1984 in Moscow ) is an Austrian soprano of Russian descent.

biography

Ekaterina Potego first received her training as a lyric soprano in the opera school of the Gnessin Music Academy in Moscow under the direction of chamber singer Sara Doluchanova. Then she attended the music academy Ippolitowa-Iwanowa under the leadership of Ludmila Slepnewa. She completed her training as a lyric soprano in her adopted home Austria, at the Vienna Conservatory with Julia Cornwell, where she graduated with distinction. Christa Ludwig and Alfred Burgstaller were among her most important teachers. She sang at the Vienna Chamber Opera in the operas Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini and Così fan tutte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and in the operetta Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss. In addition to her work as a soloist at the Vienna State Opera , she played the main role of Pamina and the First Lady in the opera Die Zauberflöte by Mozart at the St. Margarethen Opera Festival. As an international soloist, she also works as a concert singer. For example, she was in India at a personal invitation from Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur (Radjastan Province) and performed as a solo singer at the historic Mehrangarh Fort.

Ekaterina Potego is the initiator and artistic director of a concert series that describes itself as "Music along the Silk Road".
