history

The branch line Neunkirchen a Sand Simmelsdorf-Hüttenbach was on 5 December 1895, the railway line Schnaittach Schnaittach Bf-market opened after the integration Schnaittachs the railway line from Nuremberg to Bayreuth in favor of the tour of the Pegnitztal had failed.

The name of the exit station Schnaittach Bf , which had existed since July 15, 1877 with the opening of the Nuremberg – Schnabelwaid section in the direction of Eger, was changed to Neunkirchen a Sand in 1970 .

business

The station is served by the DB Regio Franconia lines R3 (Nürnberg Hbf – Lauf (right Pegnitz) –Hersbruck (r. Pegnitz) –Neuhaus (Pegnitz)) and R31 (Nürnberg Hbf – Lauf (right Pegnitz) –Neunkirchen a Sand – Schnaittach –Simmelsdorf-Hüttenbach).

Both lines run individually from Monday to Friday, but on Saturday and Sunday they are bundled from Nuremberg to Lauf (Pegnitz on the right), where they then travel separately to Neunkirchen am Sand. On the way back they are reunited in Lauf and travel together to Nuremberg.

In the second half of 2017, you have to change trains in Neunkirchen in most cases on Saturdays and Sundays.

The trains from Simmelsdorf to Nuremberg run from track 1 and from Neuhaus (Pegnitz) to Nuremberg from track 2. The trains to Simmelsdorf-Hüttenbach run exclusively from track 1 and those to Neuhaus (Pegnitz) from track 2.

history

The former station building has been demolished. It was replaced by a functional building in the 1980s. The goods shed is still there, but has been sold to private customers, and the goods facilities can no longer be used.

The Neunkirchen am Sand train station was equipped with three mechanical signal boxes (two guard signal boxes and one command post (Fdl)) of the Spaeth design until November 1981. Today (2017) it is remote-controlled from Hersbruck (r Pegnitz).

Investments

The station has a house platform (platform 1) and an island platform (platform 2 and 3), which can be reached via an underpass. The platforms are not covered and not barrier-free.

There is also a passing track and a stump track in the east between the two lines. There used to be several sidings.
