On October 1, 2010, DB Regio Mittelfranken and DB Regio Unterfranken were merged into DB Regio Franconia . The DB Regio Bayern has two companies into a single railway companies combined. DB Regio Franken operates the Nuremberg S-Bahn (Bamberg-Hartmannshof, Roth-Altdorf (near Nuremberg), Nuremberg-Neumarkt (Oberpf.) And Nuremberg-Dombühl), lines of the Nuremberg R-Bahn , the E-Netz Franken, the E-Netz Würzburg and the Middle Franconia Railway (railway lines Nürnberg – Neuhaus (Pegnitz) / Simmelsdorf-Hüttenbach; Nürnberg Nordost – Graefenberg ( Graefenbergbahn ); Fürth – Markt Erlbach ( Zenngrundbahn ); Fürth – Cadolzburg ( Rangaubahn ); Neustadt ad Aisch – Steinach ( b. Rothenburg) and Steinach (b. Rothenburg) –Rothenburg od Tauber).

Vehicles of the type Bombardier Talent 2 (series 442) are used on the Nuremberg S-Bahn , the S2 line runs with locomotives of the series 143 and x-cars ; Alstom Coradia Continental vehicles (series 440) in the Würzburg network and Alstom Coradia LINT vehicles (622 and 648 series) in the Middle Franconian railway network .
