The Obersteeg station was at the foot of the north of Obersteeg lying mountainside. The old town center of Obersteeg with partly still preserved half-timbered houses was a few meters further in the area of the Sülz .
history
The extension of the Cologne-Mülheim-Lindlar line on the Immekeppel - Lindlar section was a long time coming. In January 1912, the Immekeppel– Hommerich section was completed. The section from Hommerich to Lindlar was last opened in December 1912. The end came in 1960 for passenger trains. Freight traffic came to a standstill in 1966. In the same year, the tracks on the section were dismantled.
The station
The station building of the Obersteeg station was built from 1909 to 1912 by the Reichsbahndirektion Elberfeld . The Obersteeg station was thus part of the Immekeppel - Lindlar section . The station belonged to the so-called station class IV. It had two platforms, a waiting hall and a goods loading facility.
monument
The station building is entered with the associated outbuildings and goods shed under No. 126 in the list of architectural monuments in Overath .
